This set of uniforms comes from James Grubbs, a bow gunner/assistant driver on an M5A1 Stuart light tank of D Company, 753rd Tank Battalion. The primary tank battalion attached to the 36th Infantry Division, Grubbs saw combat in the last months of the war as their tanks rolled into the Reich.

The first combat marine infantryman of the collection, this set belonged to Frank Densmore, a BAR Gunner and squad leader of D Company, 2nd Battalion, 28th Marine Regiment, 5th Marine Division, who fought fiercely at the battle of Iwo Jima from the landings to the final days when he was wounded by a Japanese grenade in a midnight banzai charge.
