36th Infantry Division Morning Reports
Introduction
The morning reports are records maintained by company-level clerks recounting the day-by-day changes, activities, and movements of each company of the division. These records track: when people enter and leave the company, when they are sick and return, anyone assigned to special duties, when men are wounded, killed, or missing in action, the general location of the company, brief summaries of daily actions, and much, much more. Below is a brief list of abbreviations you may commonly see in the morning reports, which are useful in understanding the message being communicated.

These records are in an ongoing process of digitization. Currently, the morning reports on this site are for the entirety of the 36th Division's organic units and some of its primary attached support elements. The current range of dates uploaded is from January to July of 1944, with updates coming in the future as more are digitized, organized, and uploaded.
